Snippet: My visits to Venice have continued regularly since I was 17 and my enchantment has never diminished. Visiting the Bienaale has always been fun and this year wasn't an exception- a wonderful melange of beauty, creativity and provocation.

I'm particularly fond of the Arsenale ,whose architecture alone I find amazing and piled high with historical relevance, remembering the sea faring vessels carrying treasures from the east to Venice.

The pavilions in the Giardini are representative of many countries and these included the United Kingdom and of particular interest to me Korea and Japan whose boats and multi million collection of keys on red threads was absolutely mind blowing in its creativity and WOW factor, something akin to a sacred fire.
It was 35 degrees with a gentle breeze for the  whole of my intensive 5 days  but crowds there were none ,which gave me chance to enjoy the enormity of the warehouses and their artistic contents.
Later in the year the crowds fill the spaces and some of the magic is broken into small pieces,so I was indeed very fortunate.
There were wonderful and thought provoking exhibits from Africa and China and many balloon piercing videos to experience.

The Dogana ( the old customs house ) for me is always fabulous not only for its historical relevance but its position and size have been converted into an ever changing venue for world class representations.

Don't misunderstand my enthusiasm, as there are also some items which I find challenging ! And wonder how they have arrived in this auspicious collection, but the overall feeling is one of great fun, inspiration and admiration.
I hope that you may enjoy a glimpse into this 2015 Bienaale .

Treasure is a word used in a wide variety of ways but seldom do we come across real treasure but on this occasion I truly did.
I was directed serreptitiously to the only surviving 18th century casino left in Venice!
What joy ! was exactly the the appropriate exclamation.

Casanova I'm sure was a visitor and the original plasterwork ,wood work, marble floors ,windows and grills were to be enjoyed in quiet contemplation ,I was in 7th heaven.

In my days in Harley street my hospital boasted Angelica Kauffman ceilings ,Adam fireplaces and intricate plasterwork and a divine crinoline staircase of the 1730s.

This was the Italien equivalent and a delight to behold.
Imagining the musicians in the room behind the metal grills was intriguing and the removal stone in the floor to reveal visitors was indeed  a cunning plan.
Peeling paint and textured surfaces I've alwYs found fascinating and this wAs here in abundance.
My life is full of extremes and this was certainly the best example,
,following the excesses of the modern art displays.
No doubt Lord Byron was a visitor too and we can only I imagine the antics which shocked the Venetians.
